We know, we know, we've got summer homes on the brain. We just can't help it! This nice weather is making us crave long weekends away by the water whether it's salt water... or the familiar water at the lake (as New Yorkers, there's little we love more than a nice upstate house). We've put together a few design boards for beachfront homes, but we've yet to put together one for lake houses.
The Lake House Look
In our minds, lake house decor should be a bit more laid-back and industrial than the average beach home, and sometimes, even a little bit quirky (hence our fun selections below). Stripes, neutrals, and comfortable fabrics are perfect for the lake house. Explore a little, and add in antique pieces you find at estate sales down the street. A little industrial lighting, a couple of fun art pieces, some natural materials such as hardwood floors and rattan furniture, and voila—you've got yourself a gorgeous lake house built for breezy relaxation.
